And now, we want to give you the option to extend it by building your own widgets and publishing them in our App Gallery.
What are OpenWidget Apps?
OpenWidget Apps is a place dedicated to external developers trying to solve problems and fulfil the needs of end-users looking for immediate information or help. With it, website visitors interacting with OpenWidget get a dedicated card displayed on top of the OpenWidget's Home Screen – a card containing the custom information that you'd like to display and a button that opens a full-screen view where you can embed your application as an iframe, or open a new tab in the visitor's web browser.
How does it work?
It's simple. OpenWidget Apps consists of three main elements: your application's icon, together with a header, a text that you'd like to display below the header in the form of a string and a button that will display custom text in the form of a string and open the full-screen view of your app.
Once ready and published, app can be installed not only by you but also by other people configuring their OpenWidget directly from the Apps Gallery available within the OpenWidget Management App. Once installed, your app will be visible on top of the OpenWidget's Home Screen and will then be available for website visitors to interact with.

When developing our Apps Gallery, we wanted to make sure that the submission process was easy. Once your app is ready, all you need is to create a public repository we can read, a proper JSON-shaped base of your app and a few more details like the app's description and icon. Yes, all of the OpenWidget features are free. This includes widgets like Contact Form, FAQ Module, and AI-powered Product Recommendations Widget. We also don't charge for available integrations. However, please be aware that third-party software like HelpDesk and LiveChat will have additional charges associated with its use.
Adding OpenWidget to your website is easy! First, sign up for a free OpenWidget account and go to the Add to website section of your OpenWidget app. While there, copy the snippet code generated for your account and paste it right before the closing body tag of your website's HTML code. Once OpenWidget is added, all you need to do is to enable all the necessary features, and you are good to go!
